Karting update - 01.02.2008

The 2007 season is now over and James has secured himself some more state championship titles. Undoubtfully the biggest of these being his defence of the NSW Junior Clubman State Title he won in 2006.
James qualified in pole position for both Junior National Light and Junior Clubman at the Newcastle Kart Race Club track at Mt. Sugarloaf. This track is one of the toughest tracks in Australia in technical terms. James carried his success of 2006 and won with quite a margin in Junior Clubman, claiming the chequered flag by more than 7 seconds.

In Junior National Light, after being fastest qualifier, James finished 2nd, later, James’ pit crew found the chassis to be twisted which did not help his cause, but all credit to the winner on the day.

The following week James’ head to W.A for the state championships. On this occasion Remo Racing and Kartforce had arranged 2 new chassis’ for James to drive, the JNL chassis being the new Kosmic which was to have its debut trial in a state title. James had never driven or seen the track before but secured pole position in both classes against some experienced drivers, among them the current state champions. James won Junior National Light giving the Kosmic chassis its maiden state title win. Unfortunately in Junior Clubman, James had slight contact in the final after starting off pole and winning both heats and the P/F by a large margin.

James had an extremely successful 2007, culminating in winning the DPE and NSW Premier State Cup series and the the final winner for Junior Max. This qualified James for a position to represent Australia in the World Junior Max Championships in Dubai. James is the youngest Australian to qualify for a Junior Max world final.
